Our Purpose

Preparing youth in developing countries with the skills to succeed in today’s economy.

We tackle youth unemployment by partnering with youth, schools and governments to design and deliver solutions that equip young people in developing countries with the skills to attain further education, overcome gender inequities, start businesses, get jobs, and drive development in their communities.

Our goal is to design skills-based, post-primary education and employment solutions which impact youth life outcomes sustainably and at scale.

Our Mission – To develop young leaders and entrepreneurs in developing countries.

The Opportunity in Africa

Africa will be 40% of the world by 2100 — its population is expected to grow from 1.2 to 4 billion and the continent could have more youth at that time than the total population of the US. As many as 90% of African youth are projected to work in the informal sector. These demographics, along with a scarcity of jobs, have led to dramatic rates of youth unemployment.

Education systems in Africa already face challenges meeting young peoples’ needs – current curricula and teaching methods don’t consistently prepare students for what’s to come following graduation. Despite an eagerness and commitment to learn, even students who finish secondary school often find themselves lacking the skills needed to attain further education, overcome gender inequities, and secure one of the few available jobs, leading to unemployment and underemployment.

As we believe to be the Solution

We believe that by transforming post-primary education and the transition to employment, we can equip youth with the skills to disrupt the systemic problem of youth unemployment. By creating new skills-based educational models that change what young people learn and how they learn it, We are empowering youth with the skills to drive measurable change. Our experiential models help youth to build the 6Cs — the essential soft/ transferable skills like communication, creativity, and critical thinking. On top of those foundational transferable skills, we layer the hard skills of business by providing opportunities for youth to learn and practice each aspect of starting and running a business in the real world, like opportunity identification, business planning, and financial literacy.

Our Course Curriculum

We developed our curriculum and we believe in paying it forward by sharing our curriculum with everyone working for a common goal.
Since we launched our curriculum, design and training experts on our team have constantly iterated and improved our lesson plans and materials to ensure the maximum benefit for our Scholars.

We are completely open-source – to create the greatest impact possible in developing countries. Much of the curriculum can be applied across cultures and many organisations have been successful in tailoring the curriculum to meet the needs of their local contexts. To date we have shared our curriculum with over 150 organisations.

Our Curriculums are specifically designed to scale: built on best scaling practices and continual self-evaluation. Our long-term vision is to design Curriculums that measurably impact millions of youth each year.
